Background of the Study
Gender advocacy campaigns aim to promote gender equality, challenge stereotypes, and address systemic barriers to equal opportunities. Public relations (PR) plays a critical role in these campaigns by crafting messages, engaging stakeholders, and leveraging media platforms to amplify advocacy efforts. In Lafia Local Government Area (LGA), Nasarawa State, gender advocacy campaigns have gained traction, addressing issues such as gender-based violence, education for girls, and women’s economic empowerment. Research by Adekunle and Musa (2024) emphasizes that PR strategies are pivotal in shaping public perception and driving societal change. This study investigates the role of PR in gender advocacy campaigns in Lafia LGA, focusing on the strategies employed, their effectiveness, and the challenges encountered.

1.2 Statement of the Problem
Despite the growing number of gender advocacy campaigns in Lafia LGA, many initiatives struggle to achieve meaningful impact due to poor communication strategies and limited public engagement. Challenges such as cultural resistance, inadequate funding, and misinformation further complicate these efforts. This study examines the role of PR in addressing these challenges, exploring how PR strategies can enhance the effectiveness of gender advocacy campaigns in Lafia LGA.
